What decisions have you made when recording the tracks?
We have recorded the songs in three ways. The first is an accompaniment only track - this is what you would expect to hear from your pianist in a rehearsal or an audition, and does not include the melody line (unless it is part of the accompaniment in any case). The second is the melody line on its own, for you to use to learn the notes, or to check that you've got them right. The third track is a combination of the accompaniment and the melody, so that you can hear what the whole lot should sound like together, and that you can use to sing along with until you are really sure of the notes.
For the all the tracks we have used the original scores as much as possible. If you are used to using a simplified song-book version of the song, there will probably be a bit more detail here than you are used to hearing.
We all know that in musical theatre we do not always stick exactly to the notes in the way that they are written down, and that we will all sing the songs in a different way. We felt that this was your choice to make and not ours, so we have recorded the melody lines exactly as they appear in the score, and left it up to you to change them as you feel.
Our choice of tempo and style has as far as possible been influenced by the classic recordings of the shows, so, for example, if there is a well known recording of a song by a famous concert artist which is different from the show, we have always gone with the show version. If there are important variations of tempo between several recordings, we have gone for the middle option. Of course, if you are using our custom service, you can have the song at any tempo you wish! Occasionally we have cut long instrumental sections in the middle of songs - when we have done this, we have added a note to say how much has been cut, and where from. If you need the cut material put back in, of course we can do this for you. Our aim is to make this the easiest and most productive rehearsal process for you - if there is anything else we can do to help, please get in touch and let us know - we want this to work for you!
